Varietal Brewing (Sunnyside)
Varietal Beer Company is one of those rare breweries that gets everything right—exceptional beer, a relaxed vibe, and even great coffee in the morning. Located in Sunnyside, it’s a must-stop in the Yakima Valley and the kind of place that quietly raises your standards for every brewery that comes after it.
Single Hill (Yakima)
Single Hill Brewing is my favorite brewery in the entire state—and that’s saying something, considering how many I’ve been to. The beer is consistently excellent across styles, the vibe is relaxed, and the fact that they also serve great coffee in the morning feels like a humble flex. It’s the rare place that nails both ends of the day and quietly ruins other breweries for you.
Bale Breaker (Yakima)
Built right in the middle of a hop field, Bale Breaker Brewing Company is about as Yakima Valley as craft beer gets. The beers are hop-forward, clean, and dangerously drinkable—made by people who know hops inside and out but don’t take themselves too seriously. Grab a pint, sit outside, and enjoy the rare experience of drinking a beer while staring at where it basically came from.
Wandering Hop (Zillah)
Wandering Hop Brewery happens to be the closest brewery to the house (a little over a mile), which is both convenient and mildly dangerous. Luckily, the beer is hop-forward, clean, and easy to love, making it an ideal “just one quick stop” that rarely stays quick. It’s a laid-back, local spot that feels like part of the neighborhood—and drinks like it knows exactly where it is.
